A small urban back garden on a budget – case study
Client profile
Chris and Stella Ellis live at High Royds, Menston in a 4 bedroom detached house. The back garden is approximately 120m2. They have 2 children aged 12 and 17. Chris has taken early retirement, and Stella works full time. As Chris was at home, he wanted to be involved in implementing the changes himself to keep costs down.
Their garden problems
“We really didn’t know to do with our small rear garden attached to a new build house. We were unhappy with how the garden looked and lack of colour. And disappointed that the garden wasn’t attractive despite some efforts to put site-recommended plants into our garden.
We realised the garden had potential but we had no idea how to change it. Having spent months over winter pouring over books, we still couldn’t work out what to do.”
The solution
Chris was looking for a professional garden designer who was local, who would understand the climate and the soil etc.
Based on his own professional career (urban planning), Chris valued the expertise of a professional landscape designer and what they would offer.
Melissa Morton Garden Design was selected based on the business website which they liked. The portfolio of planting styles shown were appealing and the tiered services offered suited what they needed.
