A rural family garden for Dining & entertaining

Current project | Ilkley Moor, West Yorkshire

The Brief

The clients wanted…

  • to create areas in their large garden for relaxation, sunbathing, BBQ, eating out and hosting parties, as well as play areas for their daughter.
  • the well used decked area, although in a great location is small and doesn’t take advantage of the space they have.
  • to enhance the views to the north.
  • the feeling of extending the indoor living area to the garden.
  • to enjoy the views whilst enjoying the sun as much as possible.

The site

The large garden is quite exposed on Ilkley moor, with a woodland and stream.  There are wide open views to the surrounding landscape. The agreed scope of the designs focussed on the area around the house and garage.

There is a lot of existing stone – walling and patio – which will be repurposed where possible.
